Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: September 9, 2026
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Stellar Security website and your purchase of security camera equipment and services.
By using this website, requesting a quote, purchasing equipment, scheduling an installation, or hiring Stellar Security, you agree to these Terms & Conditions to the extent permitted by applicable law.
However, these Terms & Conditions do not remove, restrict, or replace any rights that applicable law gives you.
1. About Stellar Security
Stellar Security provides residential and commercial security camera systems, security camera installation, video surveillance solutions, and related services throughout Ontario.
Throughout these Terms & Conditions, “Stellar Security,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Stellar Security.
Likewise, “Customer,” “you,” and “your” refer to the individual or organization purchasing or receiving our products or services.
2. Website Use
You may use this website to learn about Stellar Security, our security camera systems, our installation services, and our company.
However, you must use the website for lawful purposes.
In particular, you must not:
- Use the website for an unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access systems or information without authorization
- Interfere with website security or functionality
- Submit false or misleading information
- Upload malicious software
- Copy website content for unauthorized commercial purposes
- Use the website to conduct fraudulent activities
Additionally, Stellar Security may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue website features when necessary.
3. Quotes and Estimates
Stellar Security prepares quotes and estimates using the information available when we review your project.
For example, a quote may include equipment, installation, configuration, labour, travel, accessories, taxes, and other applicable charges.
However, actual site conditions may differ from the information available when we prepare a quote.
Therefore, additional work may become necessary if the installation requires:
- Additional cable runs
- Additional cameras
- Additional recording equipment
- Additional network equipment
- Specialized mounting hardware
- Lifts or other access equipment
- Significant drywall repair
- Masonry work
- Work outside the original scope
- Other unforeseen installation requirements
When this happens, Stellar Security will explain the additional requirement.
Furthermore, we will seek customer approval where applicable before proceeding with additional chargeable work.
Applicable Ontario consumer-protection requirements continue to apply regardless of these Terms & Conditions.
4. Scope of Work
The applicable quote, estimate, invoice, work order, or written agreement identifies the products and services included in your project.
Therefore, customers should review the project scope before approving the work.
Unless we specifically include them in writing, a standard security camera installation does not automatically include:
- Electrical work
- Internet service
- Network upgrades
- Structural modifications
- Major drywall repairs
- Masonry repairs
- Painting
- Roofing repairs
- Trenching
- Underground work
- Permits or municipal approvals
- Alarm monitoring
- Alarm response services
- Ongoing IT support
If you request additional work, Stellar Security may provide a separate quote or change order.
5. Equipment
Security camera systems may include cameras, network video recorders (NVRs), hard drives, switches, cabling, power supplies, mounts, brackets, networking equipment, software, mobile applications, and other components.
However, product availability can change because of manufacturer supply, inventory limitations, discontinued products, or shipping delays.
When necessary, Stellar Security may recommend comparable equipment.
If the recommended equipment materially changes the agreed project, we will explain the change before proceeding.
Furthermore, equipment specifications may vary between manufacturers and product models.
6. Camera Placement and Coverage
Stellar Security considers the property’s layout, customer requirements, lighting, mounting locations, network configuration, and other site conditions when planning camera placement.
As a result, camera placement can vary from one property to another.
Security cameras can improve visibility and help customers monitor their properties. However, no camera system can guarantee complete security.
For example, darkness, weather, obstructions, lighting, distance, camera angle, network interruptions, storage limitations, equipment failures, and vandalism can affect system performance.
Therefore, customers should review proposed camera locations and communicate important coverage requirements before installation.
7. Installation Services
Stellar Security performs installation work with reasonable care and skill.
Depending on the project, installation may include:
- Mounting cameras
- Running security camera cable
- Terminating network connections
- Installing recording equipment
- Connecting compatible network equipment
- Configuring remote access
- Configuring recording settings
- Testing cameras
- Testing recording functions
However, installation may require access to walls, ceilings, attics, exterior surfaces, network equipment, electrical areas, or other parts of the property.
Therefore, customers must provide safe and reasonable access to the areas required for the agreed work.
8. Property Conditions
Customers should tell Stellar Security about known property conditions that could affect installation.
For example, these conditions may include:
- Hidden wiring
- Plumbing
- Structural damage
- Hazardous materials
- Asbestos
- Water damage
- Weak surfaces
- Deteriorated building materials
- Previous construction
- Restricted access
- Existing security equipment
- Network equipment that may interfere with installation
Stellar Security will take reasonable care during installation.
Nevertheless, concealed conditions can sometimes remain unknown until work begins.
If an unexpected condition requires additional work, we will explain the issue and, where applicable, provide a revised quote.
9. Customer Responsibilities
Customers play an important role in the successful completion of a security camera installation.
Therefore, customers are responsible for:
- Providing accurate property information
- Providing reasonable access
- Maintaining safe working conditions
- Providing required internet access
- Providing required network access
- Providing access to relevant network equipment
- Providing accurate billing information
- Reviewing the project scope
- Communicating specific coverage requirements
- Following applicable manufacturer instructions
- Maintaining internet services required for remote viewing
- Using the system lawfully
Additionally, customers should tell Stellar Security about known hazards before installation begins.
10. Internet and Remote Viewing
Many modern security camera systems use internet or network connectivity for remote viewing, notifications, cloud features, software updates, and other functions.
However, Stellar Security does not control third-party internet providers, cellular networks, cloud platforms, manufacturer servers, or mobile applications.
Therefore, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted remote access.
For example, an internet outage may prevent remote viewing while the local recording system continues to operate.
Similarly, a manufacturer service outage may temporarily affect an application or cloud-based feature.
Customers therefore remain responsible for maintaining the internet and network services their system requires.
11. Recording and Storage
Security camera recording capacity depends on several factors.
These factors include:
- Number of cameras
- Resolution
- Frame rate
- Recording mode
- Motion activity
- Hard-drive capacity
- Retention settings
- Compression settings
Consequently, different systems can provide different recording periods.
Customers should therefore select storage capacity based on their own recording requirements.
In addition, customers should regularly check their recording system.
If an important recording exists, customers should preserve that recording before the system overwrites it.
12. Customer Privacy and Legal Compliance
Customers remain responsible for using their security camera systems in accordance with applicable laws.
In particular, customers should consider privacy when cameras may capture:
- Neighbouring properties
- Public areas
- Employees
- Visitors
- Tenants
- Shared spaces
- Other individuals
Stellar Security can provide technical guidance about camera placement and system operation.
However, customers ultimately decide how they use their cameras and recordings.
Therefore, customers should obtain appropriate legal advice when they have questions about privacy, surveillance, employment, tenancy, or other legal requirements.
For additional information about privacy and video surveillance in Ontario, customers can review guidance from the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.
13. Payment
Payment terms appear in the applicable quote, invoice, or written agreement.
Unless we agree otherwise in writing, customers must pay invoices according to the stated payment terms.
Additionally, Stellar Security will charge applicable taxes where required.
Therefore, customers remain responsible for properly invoiced amounts.
14. Deposits and Project Payments
Some projects require a deposit or progress payment.
When applicable, the quote or written agreement will identify the amount and payment schedule.
A deposit may allow Stellar Security to order equipment, reserve installation time, purchase materials, or prepare for the project.
However, cancellation, refund, and deposit rights remain subject to the applicable agreement and applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions removes statutory cancellation or refund rights.
15. Changes to the Project
Customers may request changes before or during installation.
However, a project change can affect equipment requirements, labour, installation time, or total project cost.
Therefore, Stellar Security may provide an updated quote or change order before completing additional work.
Where customer approval applies, we will obtain that approval before proceeding.
16. Installation Delays
Stellar Security makes reasonable efforts to complete projects within the agreed timeframe.
Nevertheless, circumstances outside our control can affect installation dates.
For example, delays can result from:
- Equipment shortages
- Shipping delays
- Severe weather
- Property access problems
- Customer-requested changes
- Unexpected site conditions
- Internet or network problems
- Manufacturer delays
- Subcontractor availability
- Utility interruptions
- Other circumstances outside our reasonable control
When a significant delay occurs, Stellar Security will communicate the situation to the customer.
Furthermore, applicable statutory cancellation rights continue to apply.
17. Subcontractors and Installation Partners
Stellar Security may use qualified employees, contractors, subcontractors, or installation partners to perform portions of a project.
For example, an installation partner may complete physical installation work while Stellar Security manages the customer relationship and project requirements.
However, the use of an installation partner does not automatically transfer the customer’s relationship with Stellar Security.
18. Equipment Manufacturer Warranties
Many security camera products include manufacturer warranties.
However, each manufacturer’s warranty has its own terms, coverage, exclusions, and warranty period.
Stellar Security may assist customers with manufacturer warranty claims when appropriate.
Nevertheless, unless we expressly provide otherwise in writing, Stellar Security does not extend or replace a manufacturer’s warranty.
19. Stellar Security Installation Warranty
Where Stellar Security provides an installation warranty, the applicable warranty period and coverage will appear in the customer’s quote, invoice, or written agreement.
Generally, an installation warranty addresses workmanship performed by Stellar Security.
However, an installation warranty does not automatically cover damage or problems caused by:
- Customer damage
- Accidental damage
- Vandalism
- Lightning
- Power surges
- Weather
- Internet failures
- Network failures
- Unauthorized modifications
- Third-party equipment
- Other contractors
- Misuse
- Improper operation
Therefore, customers should review the specific warranty terms that apply to their project.
20. Repairs and Service Calls
Customers may contact Stellar Security when they experience problems with an installed system.
We may first assess whether the problem involves installation workmanship, equipment, networking, internet connectivity, customer settings, or a third-party service.
If the issue falls outside an applicable warranty, Stellar Security may charge for service calls, repairs, replacement equipment, or additional labour.
Where reasonably possible, we will explain applicable charges before performing billable work.
21. Customer Modifications
Customers should contact Stellar Security before relocating, disconnecting, modifying, or altering installed equipment or cabling.
Otherwise, modifications can affect system performance or warranty coverage.
Similarly, work performed by another contractor can affect the operation of an existing security camera system.
Therefore, Stellar Security may not cover problems that result from unauthorized modifications or third-party work.
22. Third-Party Products and Services
Security camera systems may rely on products and services provided by third parties.
These may include:
- Camera manufacturers
- NVR manufacturers
- Cloud platforms
- Mobile applications
- Internet providers
- Networking equipment manufacturers
- Payment processors
- Software providers
However, Stellar Security does not control third-party services.
Therefore, we cannot guarantee their availability, security, functionality, pricing, policies, or future operation.
Additionally, customers may need to accept separate terms and privacy policies from those third parties.
23. Website Content
Stellar Security makes reasonable efforts to maintain accurate website information.
Nevertheless, product specifications, pricing, availability, images, descriptions, installation examples, and other website content may change.
For example, a product shown on the website may later become unavailable or receive updated specifications.
Similarly, installation photographs may show one property’s system rather than the exact system required for another property.
Therefore, website photographs and descriptions should not be treated as a guarantee that every project will receive identical equipment, placement, appearance, or configuration.
24. Website Pricing
Prices displayed on the Stellar Security website may represent examples, starting prices, promotional prices, or estimates.
Unless specifically identified as a final price, website pricing does not create a binding project price.
Instead, the applicable written quote, contract, invoice, or agreement will establish the customer’s project price.
Additionally, taxes, additional equipment, special installation requirements, and approved project changes may affect the final amount.
25. Intellectual Property
Stellar Security owns or licenses the content that appears on this website unless otherwise indicated.
This content may include:
- Website text
- Photographs
- Graphics
- Logos
- Videos
- Designs
- Page layouts
- Other original materials
You may view this content for personal or legitimate business purposes.
However, you may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, sell, publish, or commercially exploit Stellar Security content without written permission.
26. Installation Photographs
Stellar Security may photograph completed installations for documentation, quality control, portfolio development, or marketing.
For example, photographs may show camera placement, equipment, cable routing, or completed installation work.
However, we take reasonable steps to avoid unnecessarily displaying sensitive personal information.
Where identifiable individuals or other sensitive information appear, Stellar Security will handle the photographs in accordance with its Privacy Policy and applicable law.
27. No Guarantee of Crime Prevention
Security cameras provide monitoring and recording capabilities.
However, they cannot guarantee that a crime, theft, vandalism, property damage, unauthorized access, or other incident will not occur.
For example, a camera may fail to capture an event because of darkness, obstruction, equipment failure, network problems, storage limitations, or other circumstances.
Therefore, customers should consider security cameras as one part of a broader security strategy.
Stellar Security does not guarantee that a security camera system will:
- Prevent a crime
- Detect every event
- Record every event
- Identify every individual
- Prevent property damage
- Prevent unauthorized access
- Remain operational without interruption
28. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Stellar Security will not accept responsibility for losses caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
For example, such circumstances may include failures involving:
- Internet services
- Cloud platforms
- Telecommunications networks
- Electrical systems
- Manufacturer systems
- Customer equipment
- Unauthorized modifications
- Third-party services
However, Stellar Security does not exclude or limit liability where applicable law prohibits us from doing so.
Similarly, nothing in these Terms & Conditions removes consumer rights or remedies that applicable legislation provides.
29. Events Outside Our Control
Sometimes circumstances outside Stellar Security’s reasonable control can prevent or delay performance.
For example, these circumstances may include:
- Severe weather
- Natural disasters
- Fire
- Equipment shortages
- Supply-chain disruptions
- Transportation disruptions
- Labour disruptions
- Government restrictions
- Utility failures
- Telecommunications failures
- Other unforeseen events
Consequently, these events may affect installation schedules or product availability.
Stellar Security will make reasonable efforts to communicate significant delays or changes when they occur.
30. Cancellation and Termination
Customers may cancel or terminate services according to the applicable written agreement and applicable law.
However, cancellation terms can depend on the stage of the project.
For example, equipment may already have been ordered, delivered, configured, or installed.
Therefore, customers should review the cancellation terms in their applicable agreement.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions restricts statutory cancellation rights.
31. Compliance With Ontario Law
Stellar Security operates in Ontario and intends to comply with applicable Ontario and Canadian laws.
Therefore, these Terms & Conditions should always be interpreted subject to mandatory legal requirements.
If a provision conflicts with a mandatory legal requirement, the applicable law will prevail.
Similarly, these Terms & Conditions do not remove consumer protections that the law does not permit businesses to waive.
32. Disputes
If a concern arises regarding Stellar Security products or services, customers should contact us first.
This allows us to review the issue, understand the circumstances, and determine whether a practical resolution exists.
Where appropriate, Stellar Security will work with the customer to resolve the concern.
Nevertheless, nothing in these Terms & Conditions prevents customers from exercising legal rights or remedies available to them.
33. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions operate under the laws applicable in Ontario, Canada, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Accordingly, applicable Ontario courts or tribunals may have jurisdiction over disputes, subject to mandatory consumer-protection rights and other legal requirements.
34. Changes to These Terms & Conditions
Stellar Security may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
For example, we may update them when our services, website, technology, business practices, or legal requirements change.
When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
However, the terms applicable to a specific purchase or installation will continue to depend on the written agreement that applies to that transaction.
35. Entire Agreement
A customer’s project may include a quote, estimate, contract, invoice, warranty terms, work order, or other written documents.
These documents may contain terms that apply specifically to that project.
Therefore, if a later project-specific written agreement conflicts with these website Terms & Conditions, the project-specific agreement will govern the transaction to the extent of the conflict, subject to applicable law.
