Our Warranty
A security camera warranty from Stellar Security provides coverage for eligible installation workmanship after we complete your security camera installation. We stand behind our work and provide warranty support when an issue falls within the applicable coverage. Furthermore, we clearly separate installation workmanship from manufacturer equipment warranties, so you know what each type of coverage includes.
1. Our Installation Warranty
Stellar Security provides an installation warranty for eligible security camera installation services.
Our installation warranty covers defects in workmanship that result directly from the installation work performed by Stellar Security.
For example, covered installation issues may include problems with:
- Camera mounting
- Cable termination
- Connections made during installation
- Installation-related configuration
- Installation workmanship
- Other workmanship issues directly caused by our installation
However, the specific warranty period and coverage for your project will appear in your quote, invoice, or written agreement.

2. What Our Warranty Covers
When an issue falls within our installation coverage, Stellar Security will review the problem and determine whether it relates to our workmanship.
If the issue results from covered installation work, we will take reasonable steps to correct the problem.
Depending on the situation, we may:
- Inspect the installation
- Troubleshoot the system
- Reconfigure equipment
- Repair installation-related issues
- Correct cable or connection problems
- Adjust camera installation
- Replace defective installation components where appropriate
Therefore, customers should contact Stellar Security as soon as they notice a potential warranty issue.
3. Equipment Manufacturer Warranty
Security camera equipment can also carry a separate manufacturer’s warranty.
For example, cameras, NVRs, hard drives, switches, power supplies, and other equipment may have coverage provided directly by the manufacturer.
However, manufacturer warranties have their own terms, exclusions, procedures, and coverage periods.
Therefore, an equipment failure does not automatically mean that the issue falls under Stellar Security’s installation coverage.
When appropriate, Stellar Security can help customers identify whether an equipment problem should go through the manufacturer’s warranty process.
4. Installation Warranty vs. Equipment Warranty
It is important to understand the difference between these two types of coverage.
Stellar Security Installation Warranty
Covers eligible workmanship issues resulting from the installation services Stellar Security performed.
Manufacturer Equipment Warranty
Covers eligible defects or failures involving the equipment according to the manufacturer’s warranty terms.
For example, if a camera stops working because the camera itself develops a manufacturer defect, the manufacturer’s coverage may apply.
On the other hand, if a connection fails because of an installation workmanship issue covered by our policy, Stellar Security may address the problem.
5. What Our Installation Warranty Does Not Cover
Our installation coverage does not automatically apply to damage or problems caused by circumstances outside our installation workmanship.
For example, coverage may not apply to:
- Accidental damage
- Customer damage
- Vandalism
- Theft
- Lightning
- Power surges
- Electrical problems
- Severe weather
- Water damage
- Pest damage
- Internet outages
- Wi-Fi problems
- Network problems
- Router failures
- Customer equipment
- Manufacturer defects
- Third-party equipment failures
- Cloud-service interruptions
- Mobile application problems
- Unauthorized modifications
- Relocation of equipment
- Work performed by another contractor
- Misuse
- Neglect
- Improper operation
- Normal wear and tear
Therefore, Stellar Security will first determine the cause of the problem before confirming whether the issue qualifies for coverage.
6. Unauthorized Modifications
Customers should contact Stellar Security before modifying, relocating, disconnecting, or altering installed security camera equipment or cabling.
Otherwise, modifications can affect system performance and coverage.
For example, if another contractor disconnects or modifies installed cabling and the system later develops a problem, Stellar Security may not cover the resulting issue.
7. Power and Electrical Issues
Security camera equipment depends on reliable electrical power.
However, Stellar Security does not control electrical conditions at a customer’s property.
Therefore, damage caused by lightning, power surges, electrical faults, unstable power, or other electrical problems may fall outside our installation coverage.
Where appropriate, customers should consider surge protection and other suitable electrical protection for their equipment.
8. Internet and Network Issues
Many modern security camera systems rely on a customer’s internet and network infrastructure.
For example, remote viewing, notifications, cloud services, and mobile applications may require an active internet connection.
However, Stellar Security does not control the customer’s internet provider, router, Wi-Fi network, or third-party cloud services.
Therefore, internet outages, router failures, Wi-Fi problems, bandwidth limitations, and third-party service interruptions generally do not qualify as installation workmanship defects.
9. Camera Performance
Stellar Security installs and configures security camera systems based on the property, equipment, and agreed project requirements.
However, environmental conditions can affect camera performance.
For example:
- Darkness can reduce image detail
- Bright sunlight can affect exposure
- Weather can affect visibility
- Obstructions can block the camera’s view
- Distance can affect identification
- Lighting changes can affect image quality
- Network limitations can affect remote viewing
Therefore, our policy does not guarantee a specific image quality level under every possible environmental condition.
10. Recording and Storage
Security camera recording depends on the system configuration and available storage.
Recording capacity can vary based on:
- Number of cameras
- Camera resolution
- Frame rate
- Recording mode
- Motion activity
- Hard-drive capacity
- Storage settings
- System configuration
Consequently, customers should regularly verify that their system records properly and that important footage remains available.
Our installation coverage does not guarantee permanent retention of every recording.
11. Warranty Service Process
If you believe your system has a warranty issue, contact Stellar Security with information about the problem.
Where possible, please provide:
- Your name
- Property address
- Installation date
- Description of the problem
- Affected camera or equipment
- Photos or video showing the issue
- Any relevant error messages
This information helps us identify the problem more efficiently.
After we receive your request, Stellar Security may troubleshoot the system remotely before scheduling an on-site service visit.
If the issue qualifies for coverage, we will determine the appropriate corrective action.
12. Warranty Inspection
Stellar Security may need to inspect the system before approving warranty work.
For example, we may need to determine whether a problem resulted from:
- Installation workmanship
- Equipment failure
- Network problems
- Electrical problems
- Customer modifications
- Environmental conditions
- Third-party services
Therefore, coverage may depend on the results of the inspection or troubleshooting process.
13. Warranty Service Calls
When a reported issue falls within our installation coverage, Stellar Security will address the covered workmanship issue according to the applicable written terms.
However, if our inspection determines that the issue does not result from covered installation workmanship, normal service charges may apply.
Where reasonably possible, we will explain applicable charges before performing billable work.
14. Transfer of Warranty
Unless the applicable project agreement states otherwise, the Stellar Security installation warranty applies to the original customer and original installation.
Therefore, customers should contact Stellar Security if ownership of the property changes and they want to confirm whether coverage transfers.
Any transfer remains subject to the applicable written warranty terms.
15. Manufacturer Warranty Assistance
When equipment requires manufacturer warranty service, Stellar Security may assist customers with the process when reasonably possible.
However, the manufacturer ultimately controls its own warranty requirements, approval process, replacement decisions, and exclusions.
Therefore, Stellar Security cannot guarantee that a manufacturer will approve a warranty claim.
16. Replacement Equipment
If a manufacturer replaces defective equipment, the replacement product may differ from the original product because of availability, product updates, or manufacturer decisions.
Similarly, Stellar Security may need to configure replacement equipment to work with the existing system.
Additional installation work may result if the replacement product requires changes outside the original installation scope.
17. Customer Responsibilities During the Warranty Period
Customers should take reasonable steps to maintain their security camera system.
For example, customers should:
- Keep equipment reasonably clean
- Protect equipment from unnecessary damage
- Maintain required internet service
- Maintain required network equipment
- Avoid unauthorized modifications
- Follow applicable manufacturer instructions
- Report problems promptly
- Preserve important recordings when necessary
As a result, proper system maintenance can help identify problems before they become more serious.
18. No Guarantee Against Security Incidents
A warranty covers eligible installation workmanship or equipment according to the applicable terms.
However, a security camera system cannot guarantee that a crime, theft, vandalism, property damage, or unauthorized access will not occur.
Therefore, Stellar Security does not warrant or guarantee that an installed camera system will:
- Prevent crime
- Prevent theft
- Prevent vandalism
- Detect every event
- Record every event
- Identify every individual
- Prevent property damage
- Remain operational without interruption
Security cameras should therefore form part of a broader security strategy.
19. Warranty and Legal Rights
Nothing in this Warranty Policy removes or limits any rights that applicable law gives customers.
If applicable consumer-protection legislation provides rights or remedies that exceed the coverage described on this page, those legal rights continue to apply.
Accordingly, this Warranty Policy should always be read together with the applicable quote, contract, invoice, manufacturer warranty, and applicable law.
20. Our Commitment
Stellar Security aims to provide reliable security camera installations and responsive customer support.
When a customer reports a potential warranty issue, we will review the situation and determine the appropriate next step.
Furthermore, we will clearly distinguish installation workmanship issues from equipment, network, electrical, environmental, and third-party issues.
As a result, customers can better understand what their coverage includes and who should handle a particular problem.
